No. No-no-no-no. Every reputable technologist and computer scientist says that of all the stupid voting machine design “features” this is the worst, but these greedy and/or corrupt fools keep pushing it.
The California Secretary of Sate does not agree. It is illegal in California.
N-N-N-N-O-O-O-O-O-O-O-O!
that’s not how this works . . .
that’s not how any of this works!
This would be incredibly stupid.
the idea that any of us in this discussion can possibly know enough about the future to say with certainty X technology should be banned or not.
If no-one can possibly say with certainty that X technology should not be banned – at least where it pertains to the security of election results – then it should be banned.
This “impatient voters” argument has to be the worst argument in a sea of bad arguments including; “we push the envelope baby, look out now, we’re pushing the envelope right now!”
Just as a point of clarification, what do you mean? Does “this” refer to the machines’ internet capabilities, or does “this” refer to removing those capabilities?
God can the boomers ignorance screw up our political system any more then they have already?
diebold’s pushing the envelope so far they can already tell you who’ll win.
It’s a horrible idea to give voting machines internet capabilities.
…that you’ll be able to see it when they stand up.

Just check out what happens tomorrow. Its a feature, not a bug!
It’s a horrible idea to have voting machines at all. I have yet to hear of one that is more secure than paper ballots counted by hand in front of observers.
There is no conceivable world where a digital voting machine is a good idea. Not now, not ever.
Thanks; the alt tag (hover text) is an essential part of every xkcd cartoon.
