I had a devil of a time finding leads for my compasses at a reasonable price. A pack costs two bucks PLUS shipping, which usually worked out to something absurd.

Beam compasses are quite useful if you need to construct large circles, or arcs. I use them for drafting custom patterns.

Yep, give me a cork-backed metal straightedge any day. Nothing else works as well for hand inking.
