Vanilla Ice's new refrigerator commercial is not a parody

Much less important than the big polluters would have you believe.

Yes we need individual action to help with climate change, but even if every individual cut their carbon footprint to zero immediately, we’d still be in a world of hurt because of the ones doing the majority of the polluting. The same ones trying to convince you it is your problem, not theirs, and would gladly sell you something to make you feel better.

Easy answer:

I don’t care.

It doesn’t affect my life, so to each his own.

I was just making the point that Rob Van Winkle is probably just a little more in need of ‘new revenue streams’ than is Tracy Lauren Marrow.

Though as someone pointed out, the latter has also shilled a product in his time…

Him being a spokeperson for this fridge sounds about right considering that their fridges and ice makers are widely known for being terrible: What Are Some of the Problems That Samsung Refrigerators Have? - Gulf Coast Appliance Repair

Agreed, he’s well aware, for sure. The man has a brand and a sense of humor.

Sounds to me like audio track was edited precisely to evade the Queen licensing attorneys. There’s almost-but-not-quite a melody there.

The Queen song is licensed for greener espresso makers…

Weird. We’re on our second Samsung fridge, and the first one wasn’t even dead yet after 12-13 years of service. Mr. Kidd got a screaming deal on a floor model with a second ice maker (slow ice production was our only complaint about fridge 1), so fridge 1 was sent packing. No more complaints about ice availability in July. :woman_shrugging:

I feel varying degrees of pity for all of the people in that commercial.

Try as I might, I can’t hate it.
Very entertaining!

Vanilla Ice used his music earnings to flip houses once he dropped off the pop radar, and was apparently pretty good at it (think he even had a renovation reality show for a bit?). He’s always had a reliable income.

Hey Samsung, if you care so much about people having their fridges too cold, how about manufacturing them so they have to be set to an environmentally friendly temp, rather than trying to guilt us into doing it for you after the fact? It’s almost like they don’t actually care about the impact, know full well what they are doing, and are more or less gaslighting the entire public into thinking that its our faults for using their products wrong! But that couldn’t be right, right?

Not sure what the point is here. He is able to find success in being both a musician and actor. Good for him? :man_shrugging:

That doesn’t mean he wasn’t qualified to write and perform credible songs about that lifestyle. (But then again, does it matter? Like most performers, he’s telling stories through his art.)

Good for him, then?
