Yesterday my wife was saying “the baby has gotten a little older, and I’m not sure who he looks like, what do you think?” and I looked and his big cheeks made me think of nothing so much as a Star Wars character BUT I SAID NOTHING.
It was NOT (yet) melanoma! So, YAY!
Apparently, it was on its way to becoming dangerous, so my risk is higher than normal, but it’s a victory to know about it. Now, I can keep an eye on all the moles I can see, and find a dermatologist for a more thorough mole patrol.
I still don’t know what the bill is going to be, but I’ll just cross that bridge when I come to it.
Whew! Congratulations and a fierce victory hug to you! Do you have to wear sunscreen or sunblock?
EVERYONE should wear sunscreen or sunblock. Unless they work in a mine. Then they only have to wear the stuff when not working.
I do now but I didn’t always, since I don’t burn easily. And youth is reckless.
I hate sunscreen, or any moisturising creams for that matter. The texture is horrible and I feel like I have to get rid of it as soon as it’s on – which is a bit counterproductive, TBH. I used to avoid using too much by wearing a t-shirt everywhere (even swimming) and not going out during the day if possible. Now I have to put it on the kids, and it’s terrible. My wife knows that moisturiser is basically like shark repellent cream, but, y’know, for me.
I was going to say, just wear a brimmed hat and sleeved shirts, but if you’ve got to put it on kids that’s a different matter. Are they old enough to do their own faces? Because you can get spray sunscreen which you can spray into their hands and they can put on their own face, and then you can use the spray on their arms & legs without having to touch it.
I’ve been able to manage, it’s just gross. Whether it’s helping my kids not to get cancer or avoiding the wrath of German preschool teachers, I was able to face my demons and recognise how far out of my way I’ve been going all my life* just to avoid having to wear it.
*Well, all my life since leaving Ireland.
Carlisle United have been disappointing this month, so let’s look elsewhere for footy victories
And another one
I don’t know when the last time there were two non league teams in the fifth round of the FA Cup was. It was definitely before 1939 though.
Edit: it looks like the last time it happened was in 1887-8, but that’s only because there was no Football League until the 1888-9 season.
This review of the book made me really happy. It was by someone who apparently was just some person who wasn’t already a Princess Pricklepants fan. (The fan reviews are also awesome, all appreciated, and also made me very happy).
Also some really mysterious thing happened and I sold like twelve copies yesterday (at this point it’s usually more like one sale every other day), despite not doing any marketing since Dec., which is very surprising in a happy way.
Maybe it was the mention from the twitter avocado?
It might be related, we picked up like 20ish Twitter followers yesterday and the book announce post is pinned to the top of the account. Still, there’ve been other points where the account got a bump without anything like that happening. BB retweeted the Egyptian art photo a little while ago and things went crazy for a bit. So it’s a happy mystery.
Nothing to do with that weirdo who told you to stop watching CNN?
No, he’s a regular, usually mellow but a bit of a libertarian contrarian type (inherently a weirdo). I’m pleasantly surprised that going full political didn’t bring more cranks out.
My little science baby turns 2 today.
The way I see it, if you’re not inserting Spın̈al Tap references into your electronics lab reports, you’re doing it wrong.
I got my Hedgehog Art Through the Ages today! It’s even more beautiful than the pictures in a certain thread.
I finally got my Unlimited tonnage Captain’s license on Monday, after putting off upgrading for years.
