Ah… I just saw “tenure track” in the story I read. So yeah, he feels like he can treat students like crap because he has job security.
I’m a fan of the tenure system and believe it is critical for academic freedom, but JFC, do some dudes abuse it.

That won’t help him. The only protection tenure offers against student abuse is a certain level of presumption, but unless this video has been highly edited it is pretty compelling evidence.
