Video of a lamb fetus in an artificial womb

Damn, came here to say I got beaten to the punch and just missed it.

“Yeah, something tells me the number of anti-choice folks who actually find this acceptable and will be saying something other than ‘force the mother to pay for all of it’ will be vanishingly small.”

Speaking as a pro-lifer, I find it acceptable.

The theory that pro-lifers oppose abortion or other birth control in order to punish the sluts is incompatible with the fact that the nastiest people on the right wing are pro-abortion … in order to keep down the numbers of the allegedly-inferior.

Me, I cant wait for the future. Might never get out of my bag. It’s warm in here and the surrogates seem to be doing my job so well. Anyhoo, gotta go. Next stop Alpha Centauri.

At least one popular and award-winning SF series has artificial wombs (even in societies where most children are raised by their 2 biological parents) as the standard practice in civilised societies, and makes this important to the plot at various points, where it’s made clear that it’s a Good Thing.

Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Saga- she’s also written some interesting essays about the idea. The hero is one of the first people on his planet to be grown in one (due to an assassination attempt his mother isn’t able to carry him to term). And then there’s Ethan of Athos

The alt-right hardly makes up the entirety of the right wing. Religious conservatives, who make up the larger portion are very much invested in imposing their views of sex on women who would use birth control and abortion.

The alt-rights faulty premise is still fraught with misogyny, as was the article. I couldn’t bring myself to quote it.

Not to nitpick, but the word you’re looking for is DIStopia, not Utopia. Nothing wonderful about plastic robot baby sacks…

The ‘appears to encourage something closer to normal lung development’ feature seemed pretty cool to me.

Team NICU has done some impressive work in buffing the raw survival numbers for preemies; but actually getting good results has proven a greater challenge.
