Based on the headline, I was hoping it would be the old Hudson Brothers (I think?) skit, in which a gorilla pops out of the top of an upright piano and pulls the player up and over, into the piano.
(At least that’s how I remember it; 'twas 44 or 45 years ago. Can’t find it online.)

I remember them! (Didn’t one of the brothers in a running skit play a sort of snot-nosed wise-ass kid?) Their summer variety show was pretty good.
I don’t remember much else, I don’t think I was yet in kindergarten at the time… But your mention of “summer variety show” sounds more like what I remember. I’d read they had a Saturday morning show, but I remember watching a variety-type show with my dad in the evening.
They also did the movie Hysterical, which doesn’t quite live up to its name, but I dug it (haven’t seen it since junior high, though):
