back to the “mindset” thing – in the us, cops get outfitted with all sorts of weaponry: entering each day as if going into battle. why not give them equipment to serve and protect rather than harm and maim?
the dude already has a history of this. his keys ( not to mention his badge ) could already have been taken away if they were serious about harm reduction.
at any rate: i offered reasonable alternatives to him immediately putting others in harm way. and that was just off the cuff. they are supposed to have training. but, the training is to reach for the – insert choice of weapon here.
bad apples – and the arresting officer wouldn’t be considered to be one – are enabled by a culture which is predicated around use of force. it spills out even into an arrest like this.
