Can you connect with Dial-A-Song?
When I was a little one, the Smithsonian had an exhibit with an automatic telephone exchange. There was a phone in front of it, and as you dialed each digit, the relay would move and stop when the dial stopped moving. At first glance, you would think that would require too much maintenance for a museum exhibit, with all those mechanical relays, but of course it got even heavier use when it was part of the phone network. It really makes you appreciate just how much engineering went into making the phone network reliable.

They’ve got a pretty good YouTube channel with really fascinating and in-depth explorations of their projects. I was an instant subscriber.
