It also reminds me how Dr. Arroway was ridiculed for experimenting with alternative ways to identify a signal despite the noise. Examples like that are why I urge people to watch that film and consider the many setbacks in her professional life, not just the sci-fi.

Uuugh… I just can’t hack TED talks. She spent about 10 seconds on the super interesting methodological bit, and then the rest was just the usual “inspiring” TED lorem ipsum.
