He’s not a bad-looking man, but hardly striking.

Out of frame: Coyote in the trees just above with his Acme lightning machine.

Looked more like it went down the side of his leg than missed him.

Striking Man?
He looks more like Walking to Lunch Man to me.

Now that’s the hero we need

Well the lightning strike was close but not as close as it might look. Doug Keisling lays it out here: https://youtu.be/FbcuiFFTGpc?t=236

Thanks for pointing that out. It looked weird to my eyes but took their words at face value. Debunk video is very helpful.

He says he’d be more careful, I’d take the opposite approach. What are the chances he’d be struck AGAIN?

There’s a park ranger who has been struck by lightning 7 times.

I vaguely recall some statistics that a person who has been struck by lightning actually has a higher likelihood of being struck again compared to someone who has never been struck by lightning, but I can’t find a reference.

He’s surrounded by trees and there’s flagpoles not far behind, wtf?

In spite of accessorizing with a Wile E Coyote umbrella, he (somehow) managed to avoid a similar fate!

It seems to me there should be a connection between the likelihood of getting struck by lightning and the type of environment one most often frequents. For instance, that park ranger sounds like someone who not only hangs outdoors much more often than most of us, but near objects that would ‘attract the attention’ of lightning. There must be data somewhere proving or disproving any correlation.
