I will trust my assessment of their responses. She was clear, direct and collaborative. He has been evasive, confrontational, and was crying crocodile tears (worked up thinking about what he’d do if some younger goon of his ilk got ahold of one of his daughters … pay attention to the words he was saying when he blubbered up into tears).

That is what Grassley was stating in his opener that there were no corroborating witnesses - when they have actually not pursued them. I’m not watching live so I’m only going on inferences from my Twitter feed, but so far he’s tried to
- play off the “Renate Alum” shit as a compliment to the woman in question, arguing that it was his friends considering her “one of them” (she did not think it was a compliment, and she first found out about it a couple days ago)
- redefine “Devil’s Triangle” as a drinking game (it’s not), and
- suggest that “boofing” is a euphemism for farts (it’s not)
All of which I seem to recall being found on his yearbook page. I’m not sure what the full context of those explanations is or whether there were substantial questions behind his bringing them up, because I’m currently opting to keep my lunch inside me.
