Conor Lamb getting shouted down because he dared to call liars liars.
Looking at the film and photos of this, I am reminded of the old saying if the dog catches the car he’d have no idea what to do with it. I mean, just think of all the people for the last 200 years that would have given literally anything, even their lives, to breach the halls of American government with unrestricted ability to do whatever they want.
Our intrepid insurrectionists get the chance and it culminates with something like “DUDE, I AM GONNA STEAL NANCY PELOSI’S STAPLER! EBAY THAT SHIT YO!”
If there’s a deep, omnipresent whirring noise in the Earth at the moment, it’s millions of deceased radicals, terrorists, extremists, suicide bombers, etc., groaning and spinning in their graves.
So, did someone at Twitter finally manage to lock Dorsey in a bathroom, or what?
Aaand, it’s over. Kudos to the great state of VT for pushing Biden over the 270 elector mark in this tally.
I am going to go with Putschisten. It just sounds better in the original German, and fits the brown shirts better.
And it’s over-over. Gaveled out and everyone is going home. Pence declared Biden the victor. I think I could do two weeks of President Pence since he’s got an opposition congress.
Also. Fuck you, Trump, for bringing me to a point where I would gladly accept President Pence.
Trump’s legacy:
— Konstantin Kosachev, chairman of the upper-house Federation Council’s Committee on Foreign Affairs:
“American democracy is obviously limping on both legs… The holiday of democracy is over. This is sadly a new low, I say this without a shadow of malice. America is no longer plotting a course and has thus lost all rights to set one, let alone impose it on others.”
Oh, and interestingly on a side note:
— Vladimir Zhirinovsky, far-right Liberal Democratic Party leader:
“Be strong, Donald, we’re with you, the abroad will help you.”
The key quotation:
Not everyone who voted for Trump is a member of this group, obviously. Yet for those at the core of Trump’s base, who have repeatedly listened to and felt validated by his messages, there is no truth that can contradict what he says.
Robert Talisse, a professor of political philosophy specializing in political epistemology, the study of how we know what we know in the political realm, at Vanderbilt University, put it to me this way.
“I think it’s now safe to say that Trumpism is the doctrine that only Trump supporters are proper Americans. It follows from that that any election that Trump doesn’t win has to be fraudulent,” he said Wednesday. “I will say this is textbook political cult of personality behaviour.”
They are welcome to each other. We just need to widen the Kola Superdeep Borehole to fit both of them.
Well, he’s a has-been 20 times over, but seeing the message made me realize how incredibly alike those two assholes are.
Trump appears to have conceded via a different Twitter account:
Saw this IRL. Be sure “Trump supporters were praying. None of them would do this, it had to be Antifa and BLM!” When I pointed out the distinct lack of “B” in this group, they said “they were in disguise.” Some are just lost. Back away slowly. Try not to make eye contact.
Yes, I caught that bit too! Interesting though that in her write up of the day’s events, she significantly revised that assessment:
