This country has had over 4 years with leader who repeatedly told his followers that the country is broken, needs to be made great again, and should be taken back from others. Yesterday was just one example of the result. His followers are not all of us - if that were true, Biden wouldn’t have been elected.

No but it emphatically is where the country is now. It literally happened. Ignoring it won’t make it go away. Saying it is not America, when it literally is just not the part you like, is wilful ignorance on his part and parroting American exceptionalism, just with a motivational poster mindset.
His administration needs to work hard to change that.

Yes, there are actual differences between the various groups of people who showed up to destroy democracy yesterday. It will matter, even if it doesn’t matter now, especially if we want these scum to be prosecuted. We should be especially interested in the groups there that planned to do this ahead of time, as opposed to the maga fans who got caught up in the moment. Prosecute them all, sure, but make sure the planners are especially singled out.
