NYT: Trump Raises Prospect Of Self-Pardon
In the least surprising news development of the new year, President Trump is considering pardoning himself, the New York Times reports.
It would be the first time in history that such a pardon has been tried, and it could face legal scrutiny down the road.
The paper also reported that White House counsel Pat Cipollone “warned” Trump on Wednesday that his decision to egg on his supporters into assaulting the Capitol building could present him with legal exposure.
“Mr. Trump had appeared to White House aides to be enjoying watching the scenes play out on television,” the article reads.
Slightly off topic: Why do people keep labelling this dude as wearing “Viking” head gear when it is clearly supposed to be and Native American buffalo headdress?
This is a fun response from the thread:
Because people are woefully stupid?
Yep. Not a mistake that he was a GA representative, either.
Many of us are saying that right now. We don’t want our government to act like this is business as usual. Some of us have been saying that since he got elected in 2016…
What the Star Wars prequels failed with acting, they nailed with the political dissolution into fascism, which is certainly the reason why so many fans actually hated them.
Also, Home Alone in Space was total crap, but that’s the one with the least politics in it.
This was our local celebrity after Charlotteville:
Some of us have been saying it since freakin’ Obama was in office…
Just goes to show, all that fancy talk doesn’t necessarily mean a lawyer has good brains!
Also see: Sen. Josh Hawley and Sen. Ted “Shithead” Cruz
It’s important to remember that everybody and their art history major friends went to law school in the late '90s. There certainly didn’t seem to be a significant screening process.
Because people are still really bad at calling out indigenous racism.
Trump didn’t invent the right-wing anti-reality bubble
Roger Ailes did invent it, and as long as Fox News exists this shit will keep happening
Well a bullet certainly stopped her.
There’s that infamous party of personal responsibility ethos again. “He got pushed inside! Someone handed him that police shield! He was wandering around looking for the exit! Swamp gas!”

Messed Up, Bro
Our children too often disappoint us.
Now, after the attack on the American election and the siege by rioters that left four people dead, Danforth has even stronger words.
“Supporting Josh and trying so hard to get him elected to the Senate was the worst mistake I ever made in my life,” Danforth said in a phone interview Thursday afternoon. “Yesterday was the physical culmination of the long attempt (by Hawley and others) to foment a lack of public confidence in our democratic system. It is very dangerous to America to continue pushing this idea that government doesn’t work and that voting was fraudulent.”

Arizona’s a weird place right now.
Other Republicans praised the assault on the Capitol. Arizona Republican Party Chair Kelli Ward, who has been engaged in numerous protests and frivolous lawsuits designed to overturn the election, said that lawmakers should stop with the ceremony and allow state lawmakers to toss out Biden’s victory and replace his electors with their preferred slates.
“Congress is adjourned,” Ward tweeted. “Send the elector choice back to the legislatures.”
That brought a blunt retort from U.S. Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ07), who tweeted: “Fuck you we are. Democracy will not die tonight.”
Can confirm. I live in his district, supposedly the “smart” city of AL.
