Hello, and thanks for all the fish?
In Savannah we have dolphins with a peculiar skill of driving fish up onto the marsh mud banks then beaching themselves temporarily so they can scoop the fish up. We’re told it’s a local phenomenon.
And evidence of a form of culture in cetaceans. Similar sorts of things are seen elsewhere among dolphins and orcas, at least, that I am aware of. Brilliant creatures. If they could have made fire under water, they might be studying us. Or are they?
Give a dolphin a fish and you feed it for a day. Teach a dolphin to fish…
I’ve heard dolphins do this too near Charleston, Kiawah, and Folly Beach in SC, but that’s fairly close.
And he will laugh and laugh. “Stupid monkey is trying to teach me to do what I do. Might as well teach me to swim!”
