I’ve been watching some Bergman lately, including the behind the scenes footage, and in one making of bit he acknowledges past trouble with hemorrhoids, so this skit seems extremely well researched.
This one scared the crap out of me as a kid:
I think it was the first time I realised that children could die.
There was another one where a child tried to retrieve something from power lines, but that one showed the kid paralyzed afterwards being wheeled around. THAT WAS the one that gave me nightmares.
Yeah. Was it a kite? I think there was one with a kite.
Edit: Here’s the one with the kite. No wheelchair though. Also, I think that’s Stephen Fry narrating.
Edit II: Here’s an article about the Peter Powell Stunt-Kite featured in the ad.
That seems terrifyingly specific.

I still clearly remember the moment my ex told me that she’d been taught that Black people couldn’t swim. She was 26 at the time, and just a few years from earning degrees in Anthropology and then Archaeology. Smart girl, but grew up in an absolutely dreadful part of NC.
It was far too early for Stephen Fry.
ETA: it was Brian Wilde (Mr Barraclough from Porridge/Foggy Dewhurst from Last of the Summer Wine)

PSAs like this are part of the DNA of Scarfolk.
After one of my aunts spent nearly an hour repeatedly warning about the risk of area rugs as a tripping hazard, I wondered the same thing. Has AARP or another group been citing rugs as the number one cause of hip fractures or something?
The narrator does sound rather Fry-esque.
Scarfolk Council is a town firmly ahem lodged in Hauntology.
“Have you visited Scarfolk? Make sure your rabies vaccinations are up to date, and visit now!”
They missed a golden opportunity to show a teeny Donald Pleasence in a just as teeny Proteus sub coursing through the water.
