I think about that exact thing with my grandma. She was born in 1898 and died in 1995. She literally witnessed the entire 20th century. The world she died in bore no resemblance whatsoever to the one she was born into. Fascinating stuff, though I doubt it will change quite so much in our lifetimes. That was really the steep part of the “visible” technology curve. We’re into the less apparent stuff now, like metamaterials, nanotech, and cosmology. Things that most people won’t see the direct effects of.
