Trying to watch and listen to this in German, but the subject makes it difficult to follow the subtitles…
Should’ve known what was coming from the soundtrack descriptions…

Watched this last night… and it’s… I don’t know… weird?
I’m looking forward to that series…the promo images look good, though I wish they would have given the dwarven princess a beard.
Also a date for the calendar:
“Better Call Saul” returns for its sixth and final season on April 18, 2022 on AMC.
It’s no great surprise to say this is pretty good
I mean, of course it is
Casting David Tennant is almost cheating—he even introduces the other two leads with “These are my companions” at one point
This week they reach the Old West, going east—Gary Beadle’s American accent is not entirely convincing
I’m going to add here that I was not drawn in at first. It felt like it dragged for me for the first couple of episodes. But then enough jelled that I don’t feel that way anymore. So if someone starts watching and thinks ‘what is @smulder on about?’, just give it a bit.
Only four episodes in, and this is a wild (although not entirely true) ride.
The series is inspired by the New York Magazine article “How Anna Delvey Tricked New York’s Party People” by Jessica Pressler, who also serves as a producer.
I know, right!
I await the inevitable Bruce Campbell cameo…
I hope that The Classic will make an appearance as well!
I was really impressed with this as well, they did some much needed updating of a very very dated novel with an attempt to look at what it means if you’re not white, English or male at the height of British imperialism. In the book Fogg just gets to swan around the world with nary a care while his English fortitude gets himself out of any scrape imaginable, but in this he is frequently way out of his depth and i appreciated it for that. It is very Doctor Who though.
Eggs Benedict is a force of nature in this.
Or maybe Mrs. Ganush!
Yep, and as for the story, i loved it turned out that he wasn’t the actual villian.
Yeah, well, he did some pretty reprehensible things to Rose but he certainly had shades of grey about him when i was expecting an outright nasty piece of work. Wasn’t expecting it to go in that direction and i loved its unhurried style, wish i’d seen it on a big screen.
