Oh man, is it ever. I’ve watched up to episode 8 now, and it’s been a weird feeling to realize how much Blackbeard is uncannily like many middle-aged men I’ve known/presently know, and also… well, uncannily like myself, in certain ways.
I guess I’ll need to, er, take up pirating now, or something? (or maybe find some better way to actually work on myself…)

It’s not just the jacket, it’s pretty much the entire outfit, right down to the straps. 
If it hadn’t been over three decades I’d even reckon it was the exact same costume, with more bling.

It’s really bad… like Bonnie (or was it Betty? Anyways, the old fart is now dead, I hear) at the Celtic Way in Asheville racist bad… So very bad. The only more racist episode of TNG was this one…
And I never say that the Irish face racial discrimination, but these are the exception - that star trek episode and the Celtic Way…
But DS9 made up for it with this episode…
And of course Past Tense 1 & 2…

Richard Ayoade has the geek cred vote wrapped up, I mean he directed a Dostoevsky film!
But being as we now have accepted that the Doctor brings their own accent and can be anyone I would like the Doctor to be physically disabled or neurodiverse. Just because Doctor Who allows you to experiment with whatever and work out how you can make unexpected casting work.

So do you want the actor to be neurodiverse or the character to become neurodiverse? I mis-spent my youth in the theatre back when dinosaurs roamed the planet and am intrigued by the way people seem to blur or ignore the fact that those are two different identities.
