Funny thing is you could probably take either of those scripts and get rid of the blatant racism just by turning the primitive natives into alien lizard-people or furry goblins or whatever. But in both cases they got lazy and just used PoC because of course they did.
I am really looking forward to seeing what they do and where they go with a second season. I had assumed when watching it that it was a complete story, but the team did such a good job I trust them to do something interesting
I think it is their masterpiece. The story is very good and the art is gorgeous, sometimes like exquisite children´s book illustrations. One of my favorite backgrounds (foregrounds?) is the one with the badger´s lair.
Yeah… that was lovely… that entire scene where they go through the country side after getting off the bus was gorgeously done. And the scenes in the Seanachai’s cave was amazing…
I still have not seen their latest (Wolfwalkers), but am looking forward to it at some point. I can’t believe I waited so long to see this one.
The Secret of Kells is excellent too. My elder loved that one and the younger loved Song of the Sea in particular. She was absolutely transfixed in the cinema. She used to sing the theme song in her little girl voice and it would melt your heart! I agree with what Crazy Cat above said: this one is their best.
I also like “The Breadwinner”. It is a bitter cartoon, most suited for teenagers than children. I think it such a nice piece of work to present in classrooms. It has such a powerful story and very good characters. It is moving and sometimes it made me almost scream in indiganation when the afghan family faced many injustices.
