(Having used 3rd, 4th, and 5th editions, I’m really liking the streamlining that’s been done with 5th edition- It lets you focus more on the story and RP than on having to consult tomes and Do A Lot Of Math.)
The system includes Ascending Armor Class. Yes, even us grognards minimize the math in favor of moving things forward.

I’ve been running a pick-up game via Meetup using the rules. Players at the table have included a 40-year D&D veteran, 5e folks, and people who have never rolled a d20 before. It’s a fast, flexible system, allowing a lot of RP and judgement calls, and players don’t get hung up on their character sheets.
