White supremacists call for Star Wars boycott because imaginary brown people

Yes. People are falling for lies and rumours and removing their kids from being educated and thus armed against exploitation and harm. So noble.

I still have no idea how this ties into anything.

Itā€™s simply grooming .

Prove it.

I think the problem here is knowing the difference between actual racist intent, and childish fake outrage, and sometimes itā€™s hard to tell. I wouldā€™ve thought the conspiracy theories about Sandy Hook and the Boston Marathon bombing would be obvious jokes, but the true believers really are true believers. Whether or not reasonable arguments will influence them (or anybody with actual racist Star Wars beliefs) is another matter, but I donā€™t think briefly (and sarcastically) pointing out the flaws in their logic is a waste of time (and itā€™s not like Iā€™m using hours of my time furiously typing away rebuttals.)

Billions of people are here in the modern age, safe, healthy and multilingual nicely without this nonsense.

Ok, so no proof then. Good to note, carry on. Have a blessed day!

I have kids, and the older one went through the Unitarian Universalist Fellowshipā€™s very comprehensive OWL sex ed program. I am glad that she has the tools to talk about sex in an open and educated way. You can start OWL in kindergarten, by the way, and take it well into adulthood. The curriculum is tailored to each age group.

My brotherā€™s a mechanic. He often has his young son out with him working on his car. I suppose he shouldnā€™t be teaching him about how cars work, though, because thatā€™s just grooming him to drive illegally, right?

I do, and agree with @Missy_Pants that keeping kids from getting any education at all because youā€™re afraid they might get factual education on a subject you yourself donā€™t understand properly is BAD PARENTING.

Which is why the states that refuse sex ed in schools, or require it to be abstinence-only, are the ones with the highest rate of teenage pregnancies and STDs.

Why, its almost as if LACK of education ā€œgrooomedā€ them for unsafe sex!

Itā€™s only Thursday, but thatā€™s still the dumbest thing Iā€™ve read all week.

Father of two. And they donā€™t approve of your prescribed ignorance.

Prescribed ignorance is the new term for ad hominem?

It used to be point of view, valid argument etc.

Itā€™s a funny old world.

There is an assumption here that I suggested no sex ed. Clearly some education is necessary. But nowhere near this early or how much.

To need to prove that there are issues with teaching 6-8 year olds this sort of thing tells me there are issues around boundaries.

Nope. Itā€™s the term for the ignorance that you prescribe.

And what sort of thing is that? The word ā€œpenisā€ and ā€œvaginaā€? Cuz thats all they learn at that age.
I mean, you could go look at the Ontario govt pageā€™s break down by grade at what the kids are learning at what grade, but why do that when you can just read The Sun right?

For those not in Ontario and wondering what the fuss is about, its this:

Maybe you havenā€™t seen past the dry presentation of the liberal Web page

This might help.

So, your opinion gives you permission to say that Iā€™m ignorant?

Iā€™m just not going to get drawn into such silliness.

a) The Ontario Government page is not a ā€œLiberal web pageā€ - it is the Government of Ontarioā€™s page.
b) Iā€™m never gonna take advice from a pro-life page that is actively trying to ā€œdefund abortionā€ in Canada and claims that abortions cause breast cancer.

Try again.
