Coming up on 2:22 Eastern time. 14:41 works just as well.
2020-02-02, still checks out
Errr, 020220 is not palindromic.
02022020 is.
Palindrome time: Noon
Mildly put off by the fact that the word palindrome is not itself a palindrome. Linguists, in my humble opinion, should rectify this by inventing a new word for the palidrome, like the ordnilapalindro, for instance.
And it needs to be square-able, too.
I’m holding out for February 22 to get the most palindromic date and time.
2020-02-22 20:02:02
(Hyphens and colons may be omitted as per ISO 8601.)
20200222200202
Edit: Wait, Feb 11 works too, if less aesthetically pleasing. We can have two parties this month!
Or a zaz word. It implies a-z, is short and satisfies the new palindromic requirement.
Meh, 11-11-1111 at 11:11 wins all.
Edit: proving it, when I posted this it was comment 11/11. Bam!
Tangentially related, afaik one of the most meta-spanning palindromes on offer is “level”. Satisfies on literary typographic, meaningful and plausibly mechanical-diagrammatic planes.
Does any “normal” human, who doesn’t have to deal with computer alphanumeric sorting, pad datetimes with 0?
It’s not a thing, this is imaginary like those 18 triangles.
I do. I like to write dates as 02FEB2020 because almost nobody else does, and it’s unambiguous as to which portion is day and which is month.
But I agree that this 02/02/2020 business is far fetched, to your point.
Well if we’re going to compare Julian and Gregorian dates, where will it end? Dogs marrying cats?
Just who do you think you’re dealing with here?
But yes, the standard is YYYYMMDD with all the spaces filled in.
I got into the habit because of computer alphanumeric sorting, and do it all the time now. I have yet to come across someone who can’t cope with it.
I knew my Birthday would be special eventually.
And it’s also groundhog day!

Define “normal.” Anyone who has dealt with computers (basically everyone) is at least aware of leading zeroes in dates.
