I don’t why it’s so hard to believe that a country with such a deeply racist history regularly puts out racist propaganda. Of course American films and TV include the unconscious and sometimes conscious bias of the people who make up the industry.

Ditto. Even though I recognize the problematic nature spanning various periods of the Star Trek franchise, and the assumptions from which it arose, I find it’s value outweighs it’s problems. That said (and I know you concur) everyone gets to decide that litmus test’s boundary for themselves. But that said, I’m extremely appreciative that we get to have nuanced and good faith arguments about culture here.
ETA: Which, now that I reflect on it, is very Trek-y and very Boing-y.
That’s because the UK was (oficially) black&white up until 1971-02-15; regional colour test runs notwithstanding. As the 1965 official programme of metrication was significantly behind schedule (and over budget) by then, the UK’s colourisation scheme ended up to be a very British hodgepodge of metric- and imperial-based systems. Which, surprise, turned out to be quite costly and complicated to maintain. As far as I know, the “filter” effect you mention stems from an error in one of the internal conversion tables that still hasn’t been corrected across the entire system and has a tendency to pop up seemingly at random.
How about a sympathetic treatment of George Metesky? More than sympathetic – a slow-burn revenge story where the little guy finally gets his own against America. Maybe get David Lynch to direct it, although we may need to give him a drug which causes him to channel Dennis Hopper.
On second thought, while that film should be made, it’s not Sauce for the Imperial American Gander, because Metesky’s campaign of terror bombing was a local grudge, not Blows Against the Empire.
Weatherman. That’s the ticket. A sympathetic Weatherman action-adventure flick.
And by Sympathetic, I mean Che Guevara personally leads the final assault on the White House where he confronts the mad-dog nuclear-button-wielding American President, who rants about Destiny and Power and Fate until Che and The People do what must be done.

It’s not that hard to believe.
My reaction on seeing this was, Oy vey, here’s yet another thing to feel negative about. And it was presented as fact. OTOH the article’s author doesn’t appear to have a background in film or the study of film, and the evidence they provide isn’t very convincing. So I’m going to take this as a statement of the author’s opinion and move on.
I have certainly found that ID photos tend to have insufficient dynamic range, and the exposure is usually set to optimize “white people,” so black people end up looking like a pair of eyes. OTOH I’ve had photos where all my features were washed out, so YMMV.
