I will never understand assholes like this and why they abuse their positions of power.

I don’t think the “power corrupts” narrative is true.

I think it’s more likely that the traits that make people want power are the same traits that will make them more likely to abuse that power.

But those who want power are more motivated to seek it out and more likely to get it. It’s all a self-fulfilling cycle.
