I have this cheap and battered Casio MRW-200H. A nice watch for everyday.
Too much function and more than three times the price.
Also, I do like a lighter, thinner watch, but just not $1.8m’s worth thinner!
Same here. A part of me is a little bit happy that some very lucky engineers are getting paid to design such a ridiculous but interesting thing, but that money could certainly be put to better uses. Unless there are still technological breakthroughs to be made by advancing the state of the art in mechanical watchmaking which might find uses elsewhere - but that seems kinda unlikely at this point!
I’ve found there are basically two features I actually use on my wrist computer. Sleep/activity tracking is one. The other is features which behave like a watch always has - unobtrusively making information available at a glance when I need it - but rely on a network connection: things like weather reports or upcoming calendar events. It’s handy to be able to check those quickly without pulling out my phone.
I too turned off nearly all the notifications immediately.
I thought I was being inconspicuous by glancing down at it, but it turns out that I was as inconspicuous as Mr. Bean eating candy at church:
I need to get around to fixing up my Pebble, hopefully the battery is still ok. For me, it hit the right spot, giving me some access to messages and stuff, but still lasting a week without charging.
The rubber sides perished, and I’ve just not got around to sticking the 3d-printed replacements on…for about three years.
Instead I’ve been mostly wearing my old digital watch, despite it being heavy, almost impossible to read in daylight, and inaccurate.
Yoooooooooooooooh!
