Worst boss ever asks how to be an even worse boss

Once in a phone conversation the person I was talking to said something about her boss and I said, “Is he having a bad day?” As soon as the word left my mouth I felt like a jackass, and even worse when she informed me her boss was a woman.

Almost every boss I’ve ever reported to has been a woman which means I have even less excuse. But I do wish we had nice gender neutral pronouns. I’m not comfortable calling anybody “it”.

“Are they having a bad day?”

I don’t get why that bothers some folks so much. It’s standard English.

“Is a bad day being had by your boss?”

Never underestimate the passive voice is never to be underestimated.

Plus, she could still call in sick, no? What job fires you for taking one sick day? Admittedly it’s quite a coincidence she gets sick on the day for which she asked for and was refused an absence. Too bad she had to miss a day of work and her graduation day.

And in the meantime, she should be looking for a job with better work conditions, which she can now get, due to her graduating college.

That being said, it’s pretty assured that this letter is fake.

This sort of job.

Can’t believe it took me this long to remember this.
