While you’re at it, attach an engine and a pair of wings to the exoskeleton. The person won’t even need an airplane.
Couple downsides. There may not be nerve system capable of sufficiently realtime control. Mostly, powered flight requires immense amount of energy. The fuel store or the power supply would have the energy density of a small nuclear reactor, for a useful range.

Didn’t the Red Baron believe airplanes would eventually become what we now call wingsuits? I seem to recall he thought pretty much everything other than the wings and engines were only necessary due to the primitive state of aeronautics in his time, and that eventually technology would advance to the point where a fuselage would not be necessary.
