When the standard playbook for both “news” media and for PR is so often to manufacture outrage over the slightest differences, and when there are so many divisive issues, you don’t need to be anywhere near 50/50 on any one of them for the situation to blow up. You just need each conflict to set off the next, bringing in more people.
