Maybe the binders could be digitised and used to create a Procedural Porn Propagator?
he methodical technique proved highly efficient. Surrounded by his tabulated notebooks, he could quickly find the appropriate section and transcribe lines directly into his manuscript. Afterward, he blacked them out to prevent plagiarizing himself
I was a bit confused by this here. I thought he was supposed to be plagiarizing himself in these knock-off books by reusing a sort of modular set of descriptions. Blacking out the entries, after using them…doesn’t that kind of lose the whole point?
Didn’t he write Evil is Live Spelled Backwards? I remember finding that in a second hand SF bookshop many many years ago
Maybe it was easier for him to quickly come up with the list of unique descriptions (e.g. 101 ways to describe breasts) and then consult the list as needed. While if he tried to come up with the descriptions while writing the novel, it might be more of a strain to avoid self-plagiarism.
Clever guy, interesting career. Churning out porn sure beats a day job! I remember enjoying a “nearly fantasy” SF book of his about a tennis champ who ends up on a medieval world. I also recall him referring to his kids as his “Offuttspring”
I venture to doubt it.
There is a naturist island off the French coast which each year used to recruit young men to work the tills on the supermarket. After a few weeks of looking at a constant flow of naked women they tended to lose interest and not go back the next year.
…which is an amazing book. One of my favorite New Wave SF novels.
