I always feel a little sad when I see mention of Joybubbles. A kid who received horrible abuse, who escaped into the phone network even if he couldn’t actually leave his house.

Is this guy the inspiration for Irwin “Whistler” Emery, the blind character in Sneakers?
He is an inspiration. I haven’t watched Sneakers in a while, so I couldn’t say who else he might’ve been inspired by.
