In other words, they experience PTSD in ways that are not entirely unlike human beings.

Possibly even worse considering they can never forget.

I think many animals can suffer from PTSD. Elephants are so lovable.

The “knowledge they need to survive” would really be a way to kill poachers. PTSD is a comparatively small problem when your species is on the brink of extinction…

If you disagree with me, just ask a Western Black Rhino… oh, wait, nevermind…

Or, since inability to forget is one of the symptoms, maybe having PTSD makes you feel like an elephant. (Other than the being hunted for your ivory part.)
