Hope this isn’t too far off topic - Julie Brown referred to the old ticketing format in her song “The Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun” from 1984.
When the park first opened, you bought additional tickets ranked by the type of ride you wanted to ride, and the best rides were “D” tickets. When more rides and shows got added, the most popular ones were upgraded to “E ticket attractions”. Eventually, the park got too big, and people were more interested in rides than shows, so they changed to a single admission price.
