If you’ve been to Taranaki - and I highly recommend it - you’ll know that it is hardly “development” surrounding the park. Those are simply fields.
Taranaki! Maunga Taranaki - āe! I don’t think I’ve heard anyone call it by the colonialist name ‘Egmont’ in about a generation.
Agreed - I thought it was really odd. I saw Taranaki and thought it had been mislabeled. Didn’t even realize that some people still used the old name.
