I think it would have had more of an impact without the obvious contact lens trick, signaling fiction.
Nah, I’d wager that having a flayed skin domino mask would be more than adequate to signal fiction. I like the contact lenses. Small attention to details like that add a nice aesthetic/complementary polish to the makeup, feathers, and necklace/closure thing.
