Mark Knopfler has an extraordinary ability to make a Schecter Custom Stratocaster hoot and sing like angels on a Saturday night, exhausted from being good all week and needing a stiff drink.

A fantastic song. Unfortunately this version is about a minute short.

My favorite version of this is on Dire Straits’ “Alchemy Live”, but the Indigo Girls did a damn good cover, on their “Rites of Passage” album.

came here to say that, too. their cover is amazing. they pack a passion into it that i’ve always found lacking in the original.

Came here to make the same comment. Amy Ray’s version (it’s just her performing solo) is on a VERY SHORT LIST of covers that I think are superior to the original version of the song.

It’s funny, the Indigo Girls cover of this song came up on my random playlist just yesterday and I was thinking about what a superior version it is.
