Were The Church known of outside Australia?
They were played on radio stations in the US.
I used to know some folks who lived next door to Steve Kilbey in Darlinghurst.
(the following is a random anecdote, nothing to do with The Church)
Their landlord was a complete scumbag, even by low-rent inner-city slumlord standards. Amongst his many cheapnesses, he’d sold off the front and rear doors and replaced them with cheap internal doors; just two bits of plywood on a frame.
One morning, we all piled into their loungeroom after a night out clubbing. It was an hour before someone noticed that the TV was missing (we were all variously intoxicated); inspection of the house revealed a human-sized hole kicked through the back door.
When they finally moved out, they had a house-trashing party. BYO spraypaint and sledgehammer.
Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Relax
I’m inviting @popobawa4u and everyone to an awesome dance party. It’s just Frankie Goes to Hollywood and . . . what sounds like that on ennnnndless repeat.
I, Brute Force - To Sit on a Sandwich
The Nuri: Masquerade
should you ever have the chance to see them life: DO IT! (this is not a suggestion)
(Opa: Бороды Мира)
The Banditi: Rock the Casbah
I am repeating myself but this is a great life band.
X-Ray Specs, Oh Bondage Up Yours!
Yaz - Don’t Go
Of course, since you’ve posted that, I’ll have to follow up with:
Yazoo - Only You
And since I’ve posted that, let’s have this version as well:
Flying Pickets - Only You
Which one is better? I think they’re both good, but of course, only you can decide for yourself.
