Tryad: You Are God
I maybe finally had an idea why people are using a : instead of a , to separate the performer from the song. That’s the level of my “hacking” insights. Satisfying to get a clue though.
Is it because the performer or song may include multiple commas but probably there’s only going to be one : surrounded on each side by spaces?
And then when someone writes a magic script to iterate through the list there’s a “phoneme” to distinguish the two and sort them into separate columns?
Bad Company : Shooting Star
Herbie Hancock & the Headhunters - Butterfly
I considered the use of commas in separating the artists when I chose to use a colon for the delimiter between artist and song. The dash seems to be used for the purpose a lot in YouTube video titles, but it’s not consistently done.
Was I right about the reasoning?
I was thinking it would be easier to parse automatically than a coma because of some of the artist listings I was seeing. A hyphen would have probably worked pretty well too, but I was trying to find a unique single character to split on. I threw <code>
tags around all of mine too so they’re easy too distinguish from the rest of the text.
That’s my long-winded way of saying yes. I wasn’t sure that anyone would write anything to parse it, and we’re all using different styles anyway. It’s more a matter of habit with me from writing code.
DNCE : Cake by the Ocean
Yay! Learning!
Okay, now what now?
Big Audio Dynamite : Rush
they used a lot of mellotron on that album, (played by Mike Mills[!]) I wonder if it was that? never thought about it before, just figured they hired a studio chime player but I wouldn’t be surprised. not sure the mellotron does sharp “attack” sounds, though.
Kendrick Lamar, Alright
REM : Begin the Begin
They very well could have been real. I’ve never actually looked into it.
