Guess there wasn’t room at the beginning for ESTABLISHMENT

@anon15383236 they are good at that but what i think they are, in general, even better at is promulgating a particular ideology. while the patriarch, kim il sung managed to establish a few bona fides as an anti-japanese freedom fighter, promulgating ideology really is the family business.

Yes. The same way other politicians unite a populace so they’ll support an inequitable status quo, no?

Funny thing about the U.S. versus N.K. in this regard – the enemy that the Kims unite their populace against is a real one.

I do want to question the idea that they are actually good at promoting an ideology, though. They are certainly good at letting the population know that if they speak out against that ideology they’ll be killed. That doesn’t mean anyone actually believes it. Kim Jong-un has likely had no feedback in their entire life that would actually let them know if they are doing anything well. I find it unlikely they are actually good at producing the results they want, they live in an environment where people are too afraid to tell them anything but what they want to hear.

The Kims are highly successful cult leaders.

If Trump doesn’t have to show us his taxes then nobody has to show anybody anything :sunglasses:

But we want Democratic style racism and sexism, not Republican style racism and sexism.

We don’t want someone who says racist stuff, we want someone who says nice things about black people while they enact racist policies. We want someone who will visibly support women while they ignore every issue important to them.

At the very least, we expect someone who will stand up to the right- And by “stand up to”, we mean shuffle their feet and complain about the need for bipartisanship while asking politely for them to please stop ass raping us just long enough to let us clean up the blood if they don’t mind if it’s not too much trouble please.

I am so fucking disgusted with this country right now.

Not ready to go there yet. If Bloomberg gets the nod, we can get really really drunk together, but not yet.

Pretty much agree with your rant, but could’ve done without that bit thnx

Bernie shouldn’t stick to that. Bloomie’s campaign asking for his records is indeed a smeary attack, but the press asking for them is not, especially in light of his age and heart issues and (especially) earlier promises. In any event it is not comparable to birtherism, which is pure racism.

I’m with you that “it’s like birtherism” is not a good line.

I still think it’s kind of bullshit, though. Medical records aren’t for the general public to interpret. There’s no reason to think Sanders is covering anything up.

And not to engage in whataboutism but the fact that Trump almost certainly is covering up that heart attack/stroke/whatever from 2019 is nuts.

The terrible thing is, as bad as Bloomberg is, he’s still better than Trump.

I’m pretty sure you’ll find near-universal consensus on that point from anyone who isn’t a committed Trump supporter.

Doesn’t mean we have to support him until he gets the nomination though.

He’s still dangerous. Please everybody, don’t let him win the primaries.

That is a point of view I had not considered. And honestly, despite leading a very privileged life at this point, not one I can even begin to wrap my brain around. Which is the point, I guess. To be utterly unable to conceive of the problems that “the poors” suffer with should be a disqualifier for the office he seeks. At least on our side of the aisle.
