2006? Youthful indiscretion. He was a mere lad of 63 back then.
Speaking of age.
What are the chances that either guy dies after the nomination but before the election? It’s not a stress free job.
I’m just a ray of sunshine.
His record on abortion rights has always been affected by his being a committed Catholic. As recently as last year he was still equivocating on the Hyde amendment. However, on many policies, throughout his career, when he’s reversed, he’s reversed hard. I think we can be confident he will support strongly pro-choice SC nominees, and fund women’s health initiatives, and honestly that’s what matters most.
What are the chances that either guy dies after the nomination but before the election?
Ignoring the heart problems, the probability of the 78-year-old Bernie dying within a year (this is conditional on his being alive now) is around .047, the probability of the youthful Joe dying within a year is .043. So, figure about a third of that for the span between the convention and the election.
Maybe more interesting, the probability that both survive between now and the convention (again, ignoring Bernie’s heart problems, and Biden’s habit of touching people in the age of coronavirus) is around 96%.
The adjective “youthful” in your statement is working too damn hard. It’s going to have a heart attack.
Also - I don’t need to be told about being raised Catholic. Still came to the correct decision on women’s rights when I was 16.
I meant to say “youthful 77-year-old Joe”. But, most of my jokes work too damn hard…or don’t work at all.
I don’t think Biden’s Catholicism is an excuse, just an explanation. He still seems pretty committed to it.
“Shylocks”.
Imagine the freakout if Ilhan Omar had said that.
To me, that’s how you can tell If you’re dealing with someone who had the common perception of something when they were younger, but has since learned more and strives to do better: if he hasn’t progressed since the days when all that statement indicated was that he was well educated, which was considered a good thing, then he doesn’t have the foundation for making better decisions now than he would have then.
Remember this one?
Admittedly, most people wouldn’t catch this. But given his reputation… this is the Internet. Someone was going to notice. It’s important to pay attention to details.
Apparently- a modicum of humility is frowned upon in men running for office.
Wagner is an interesting choice for a Jew to use when running against a German-heritage white nationalist like Trump.
Isn’t it by Edvard Grieg? On the one occasion that I know of where he could have taken a white nationalist stance, he sided with the Jewish victim.
If only Nixon had listened…
Oh, duh! I didn’t listen, just jumped right to the assumption it must be about the Ring Cycle (because we’re having another marathon run of it in April, here in Chicago).
Thanks!
