Elsenet I saw someone arguing that “ACAB” is just as hateful as religious discrimination because for some people it’s not just a job they could easily stop doing if they were tired of being hated for it, it’s a way of life. It boggles the mind the persecution complex these people have for authoritarian agents of state-sanctioned violence.

The author of the article spoke with the police chief:
APD Chief David Zack told the Citizen Times that Lance was at the police station after the incident and said he tried to stop demonstrators from attacking officers.
“I thanked him for doing that, having no direct knowledge of what actually took place,” the chief said Aug. 12. The Citizen Times sent Zack a video of the incident that included Lance attempting to join an officer subduing a protester on the ground, but being pushed away by another officer. The chief did not respond to questions asking whether he still thought Lance’s actions were helpful and legal.

I suspect that the ACLU already has the paperwork for a challenged written up. This is as clear cut a violation of the first amendment as you can get.

When protesters chant “Defund the Police” they don’t mean “defund police accountability,” FFS!
I think it is more like these people see disagreeing with them as a violent act.
Just a little bit of educational content for the next time you’re wondering what tear gas that’s banned in the theater of war but not domestic use is capable of doing to someone.

Clearly this must take precedence over the petty concerns of little people fearing for their very lives, no?
New rules need to be written. Decorum and current norms need to be tossed by the wayside. I’d be very glad to see progressive Democrats calling the GOP and the establishment Dems that are right next to them a wretched hive of con-artists who only care about cementing their power and the power of the moneyed interests that donate to their campaigns. I’d love to see them call out Pelosi for being a Third Way Establishment hack who seems to just want the current status-quo and loves the corrupt DNC as-is, and McConnell for being a soulless shell of a human being that lacks any sort of redeeming qualities.
Moving the Dems farther left toward a progressive-populist platform that calls a spade a spade and knows when to take the kid gloves off is something that needs to happen, an honestly should have fucking happened years ago.
