Thread:

And the thread within the thread:

The stories we tell matter. We can’t imagine anymore a world without police everywhere, because we never see anything else.

So this appears to be a response to BLM protests locally. Fun times.

I wonder if VDOT painted over one and left the other.

As a police officer he’s both a mandated reporter and has a duty to care he’s someone covered by child abuse laws.

This should reported to the child protection hotline & he should be investigated for child abuse.

Even if it’s just positioning for the next round of bargaining with the union, it would be awesome if the city says, “Oh, you guys were gone? Huh. Didn’t notice.”

First of all, sheepdogs control sheep without the use of force. I’ve seen this in action. All they do is look at the sheep and the sheep stay put. They don’t so much as bark.

More importantly though, sheep and wolves aren’t even in the same taxonomic order, but dogs and wolves are both canis lupus. Dogs are descended from wolves. They can breed with one another. In this metaphor, cops and criminals are closely related, often literally in bed with one another, and cops are just a more socially accepted form of criminal. Meanwhile, law abiding citizens are…??? I don’t even know, they’re something completely apart.

In real life, there are more gradations than that. What do you call the McDonald’s worker who forgets a cop’s Egg McMuffin? Are they still a sheep, or did they somehow become a wolf?

I did. The crime rate is lower.

It happens from time to time that a dog’s predator instinct kicks in and that dog will start killing sheep. The only remedy is to put the dog down defund the dog.

[edited to be clear I’m not calling for violence]

But before any action will be taken, an independent ‘Commission of Inquiry’ into the statue will be launched.

I know what this means. We need to keep fighting or the commission will decide that the statue shouldn’t come down.

jessica jones? it’s interesting how she is her own thing, and yet has to negotiate power and boundaries with the police.

a lot of superhero shows, i guess, either replace the police ( arrow ), are the police ( flash, shield, supergirl ), or otherwise have to negotiate with the police ( black lightning ), or resist the police ( batwoman )

they’re never not involved. and it’s kind of wild

Continuum was a Canadian sci-fi show sort-of-based on the Terminator story but with leftist revolutionaries instead of robots

The creator was deliberately playing the industry gatekeepers, making something that superficially looked like a cop show but where the criminals were actually right about everything
