I also raised my eyebrows at that due to the famed role of Ukrainian tractors in this war.
Considering other things Lukashenko did earlier, I wouldnât be surprised if this was subtle trolling again.
Well, tractors do have a power take-off.
If/when Ukraine wins the war it will demand reparations from Belarus for allowing Russia to use its territory for the war. Perhaps the Ukrainians will be generous and accept tractors as payment in kind.
Once you pop, you canât stop?
To that, the random opinion of some former US DIA Intel Officer:
Those who think that Russia has lost the war in Ukraine given Ukraineâs recent military victories need to think again. They donât understand Putinâs mindset, his high-risk tolerance, and his willingness to fight and create mayhem to win a high stakes battle. The overwhelming advantage Ukraine is now enjoying, fueled by the U.S., which has supplied superior training and top-of-the-line military hardware, will result in Russia turning to a new strategy.
Energy has always been Putinâs best weapon, and OPEC+ just handed Russia a massive win by announcing the biggest oil supply cut since 2020 amid soaring inflation in Eurozone and the U.S. If oil hits $100 a barrelâa real possibility nowâRussia will make $1 billion a day, according to United Refining Company CEO John Catsimatidis. This will continue financing Putinâs war machine and enable him to deploy his energy weapon against Europe, as winter is approaching fast.
All of which is to say, Putin is not backing down. He is recalibrating. When hounded, Putinâs MO is to fight back to get out of his corner. âIf you want to win, then you have to fight to the finish in every fight, as if it was the last and decisive battle,â Putin once said. âYou need to assume that there is no retreat.â Thatâs how Putin has always fought, and itâs been his strategy since the beginning of this conflict.
I think the name âbuzz bombâ could be revived, as these weapons are eerily similar to the first V1 buzz bombs.
Even that is a Pyrrhic victory, as it only accelerates Europes drive to become autonomous from Russian gas and oil. And from Arab oil while weâre at it. Sure, this coming winter may be tight, but I am being reminded of the Y2K crisis more and more.
In the end, all those Russian resources will simply sit there, as demand drops.
Refusing to ever retreat does two things â it makes you harder to beat, and it makes things so much worse for you when you are. We can all see Putin digging in his heels, but what does that get him except a longer and bloodier loss?
Deposed?
I mean, I wouldnât have expected it to begin withâŠbut Putin is telling the world this will never end until he loses power or gets Ukraine, and he is only further and further from the secondâŠ
A bunch of videos of the explosion and the aftermath:
Still not clear what exactly exploded. A truck is seen close, but I think not at, the epicentre of the fireball, and to my laymanâs eyes the collapse of several spans of the road would suggest damage to the underside of the bridge.
