Wasn’t it about local logistics? Indeed Russian blitzkrieg stopped and turned into slow progress soon after the war began, and from the looks of it fuel logistics issues played a role in it.
It would be weird to think that Russia can run out of fuel considering that their entire economy revolves around fuel.
I don’t know. I read that they are taking old T-62 tanks that were preserved in warehouses full of mothballs. It seems that this war, I mean special operation, was poorly planned.
Yes, that’s true. I wasn’t clear. With fuel the issues were logistical. Running out of tires was an immediate threat.
Either way, it feels like we’ve been getting the “that’s great news for John McCain” treatment with regard to “Russians on the brink” since the war began.
As I recall, the tire issue surrounded the crappy Chinese ones that kept blowing out on their military vehicles. As it turns out, China has plenty more garbage tires they’re willing to sell Putin as long as he has fossil fuel money to pay for them. That’s why cutting off the oil and gas revenue is key.
The loss of munitions and shell shortages (that oldie but goodie from WWI) pose the larger threat to Putin’s war effort, but it could take a few years before that becomes a real problem. This is one of the reasons it’s important for the West to continue supplying Ukraine.
Unfortunately, even with all the logistical problems and sub-par supplies and weapons and incompetent officers and demoralised and drunk troops Putin will be able to slog on and do a lot of damage to his enemies in the oldest tradition of the Russian military.
I hope that attempt at an “I told you so” by Biden (one that I can’t swallow) isn’t a sign that he’ll start reducing material support to Ukraine.
This probably isn’t cunning Ukrainian sabotage, because howlers like this happen all the time with Victory Day posters.
How about no?
… the basic value that they’ve got what they’ve got now because they seized it by force and they’ll get as much more as they can the same way
Don’t fly Russian airliners when they go into the pot-scrubber cycle.
This won’t end well, will it?
I wouldn’t worry. Airplane surgery isn’t exactly rocket surgery, now is it?
Never let it be said that Putin’s commitment to Russian history is unenthusiastic, normally for the worse.
We really ought to collect all AR-15s from the market, quietly, and ship them to Ukraine so that they can use 5.56mm NATO ammunition. Call it a tax credit for patriots. Let gun nut messies go Marie Kondo on their collections and give away the guns they no longer need when they bought their newer, shinier rifles.
I’m sure some marketing genius can spin this.
You just did the outline, so the credit is yours. You just need to win over the NRA and the persona formerly known as President.
This author thinks that the Russian army is “more skilled”, which seems questionable.
Very short thread:
