Wheny you said “ensure they win” I assumed that you meant Eurovision.

Well, yeah that too, but I also think that the constant attacks on the civilian population has not had the desired effect on either European or Ukrainian public opinion. It doesn’t seemed to have demoralized anyone, except maybe on the Russian side of things…

I think Putin is so paranoid now, it was probably just not asking “how high” quickly enough when being asked to jump.

One of the lessons learned after WWII is that “strategic” bombing was mostly a waste of bombs, doing little to disrupt logistics and often steeled the resolve of the civilians hit. And yet the generals keep ignoring the eggheads telling them this, because, well, they still are bullies. Yes, even our generals.

I think the refusal is a case of the Eurovision directors still clinging to the idea that the contest should not be political. Never mind the truth, they live in their own ivory tower, think you very much, and won’t be moved by reality. Nosireebob, they have an idea to defend!

I agree. Plus also a concern about how that would affect neighboring countries and their acts, and possibly even be dangerous to the Eurovision directors themselves.

Before every song they played video of Ukraine. It certainly is, and always was, political.

It isn’t about speeches though so maybe they were just doing what they figured the audience wanted?

I mean I didn’t want to watch a video of Zelensky, if I want that there are so many sources to get it.
