2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine (Part 2)

Yeah, the advantage of many of the APC’s now being donated is that they are all based on the M113, making maintenance slightly easier in the field. It was a big part of Germany’s slowness, as simply donating equipment means also ensuring the parts and training to keep said equipment up and running.

Those APC’s are going to be vital in any counteroffensive, as a way of ferrying troops across open fields and helping them to survive where otherwise machine guns and shrapnel would chew the infantry up. Which means the carriers will take a lot of punishment and will need constant repairs as the counteroffensive continues. So Ukraine will need smart logistics planning in advance, especially as the NATO arms will most likely be used next to old eastern bloc standards like the MBT’s.

I personally hope the APC’s do their job well, that the Ukrainians recapture with as little losses as possible. But they seem to be in a good spot for it.

A reply to the tweet about the first sighting of US-supplied M113s:

The implication is that Ukraine is trying to minimise the problems of supporting the M113s by allocating all of them to new units that won’t have other types of APC.

In a different article that I now cannot find, they interviewed a Russian military strategist who was, shall we say, “blown away” by the accuracy of HIMARS. He said they were not prepared for 6 missles to be launched and for all six to hit pretty much in the same exact spot. “Landing on a penny,” he said, comparing it to Russian systems which land all over the place.

And the British system, which is even more accurate, hasn’t even come onto the field yet. Given the Russian method of storage (everything all together, in close proximity) they are going to have a lot of trouble if they don’t rethink their logistics systems.

Mr. Bolsonaro says He will give Mr. Zelenzky the secret to end the war.

“I’ll give him my opinion on what I think. The solution to the case (war). I know what the solution to the case would be like. But I’m not going to tell you. The solution to the case… How the war between Argentina and the United Kingdom ended in 1982? That’s it. We regret it.”

The statement was part of an interview with CNN Brasil. On Monday, the president had said that he has a phone call with Zelensky scheduled for the 18th.

He should refuse the bastard’s call, or tell him to fuck off and hang up.

I do not speak english very well. I did my best to translate his speech. But even in Portuguese it doesn’t make much sense.

According to the newspapers, Mr. Zelensky asked to call Mr. Bolsonaro. Probably He wants Brazil to take part in the sanctions initiative that seeks to attack Russia economy and thus shorten the war. The problem is that Brazil is heavily dependent on Russian fertilizers and last week Mr. Bolsonaro also said Russia will sell cheap diesel to Brazil. Mr. Bolsonaro sees this oil gamble a way to curb the inflation that is plaguing the local economy. Experts say that this won’t work and could even damage the image of the country and cause a diplomatic crisis.

To be fair to you, Bolsonaro rarely makes sense, and has been getting worse during the pandemic years.

And is going to be very difficult for Brasil to change position, being affiliated with the BRICs block for a long time now.

a controversial piece of Chinese technology called AeroScope. The surveillance system is made by DJI, the world’s preeminent drone producer, and is able to detect the flight path of most DJI-branded devices and pinpoint exactly where the drone’s operator is standing.

Do DJI drones even encrypt the WiFi connection?
