There’s some cheating going on:
the outer black hairline and the facial outline are drawn-in/artificial (that is, not the result of appliances). Suspicious: the reflective highlights in the pupils.

The ghost in the machine.

I’m not sure if that’s correct. It looks like the grey outline on the left side is made from something like a vacuum cleaner hose, and the hair outline seems to be made from a lot of smaller black items that are stuck on to the wall behind. I could be wrong, but that’s the impression I get.
