That’s true, but the whole “we get to decide what’s best for you” mentality is totally a ‘people of privilege’ way of thinking.

Frankly, I’m glad they were White; this only reflects badly upon them as individuals… whereas if they were any other color, bigots would use this an example of how that entire group is inherently ‘bad.’

Most houseless folks wind up where they are at through a combination of circumstance and shit luck. To assume they are either mentally ill or addicted in some way is is prejudice, quite frankly pathetically so.

Do people living outside or in shelters face greater stress, and experience a toll on their mental health? Of course. Do some people turn to drugs to cope with those issues? Of course. But most are maybe no more fucked up than any of us. Further, to suggest that they don’t deserve autonomy over themselves the way these disgusting humans have is despicable, and imo an indication of a fascist mindset.

I hope they get what’s coming to them. And I hope Johnny Bobbit Jr. gets every penny owed to him and then some, and spends it on whatever the fuck he wants.

Also, it’s a good look to go by Johnny, not John Bobbit…

And I was under the impression that the $400K was so he could do all the drugs. And why not?

I keep having to explain to my wife that these GoFundMe things range from scam to stupidity. I don’t mess with it unless it’s a 501©(3), even then it can be a scam but at least I can deduce it on my taxes.

He needs a caveat that friends or friends of friends may be ok. I donated to a friend’s dog’s medical bill as well.

I tend to agree. I’ve followed this story a bit, and it seems like both sides are in the wrong, and I have no sympathy for either party. They should have let an attorney or someone like that manage the money. Get some accountability. It’s things like this that keep lawyers (on both sides) in business.

Wow. Just… wow.

What a bunch of fuckery.

UPDATE:

The couple’s lawyer is named Badway. This just keeps getting funnier.

I’m reminded of a joke (an old one) in which someone gives someone else on the street a $20 bill. Later on, the donor sees the recipient in a restaurant dining on caviar.
“Hey! I give you $20 and you blow it all on caviar?!”
“When I don’t have $20, I can’t have caviar. Then, when I do have $20, I can’t have caviar. So when can I have caviar?

Yes, but it’s such a compressed version of the whole white-indigenous “for your own good” saga.

Can’t wait to see them in tears on TV over the backlash they’ve received, saying it’s all totally undeserved, and people should just get over it, and that they’re soooo mean on facebook.

I haven’t seen a John Bobbitt get shorted that badly since 1993.

(Sorry.)

As flippant as you stated it, that probably is their rationale for using the money

Is it wrong of me to inspire further cynicism by suggesting the possibility that the homeless guy was party to the scam?

" they embarked on a lavish lifestyle of travel, a helicopter ride, shopping, and front row tickets to a Broadway show". At least they spent all money in the US, and they are not suspected of being affiliated with Russian oligarchs by buying apartments somewhere in Spain near the sea.
