Is it normal for previous generations to just devour the next generation like this? It seems kind of odd.

It was for a very long time. As the opening line says, it was outlawed 85 years ago. It is odd people want to regress back to those times.

As I’ve noted before, child labour is the dream of the GOP. It opens the door for them to return to all sorts of abusive Gilded Age labour practises.

Other People’s Children labor, certainly. Doubly good if it’s the other others’ children. Something needs to keep those mongrels off the street. It’ll be good for them! Of course, our children will be free to “labor” in our family-run businesses (and avoid those wicked inheritance taxes to boot!)
